SQL Software Development Engineer

Job Description:

At RCxRules, we develop and deliver solutions which leverage rule-writing and automation capabilities to improve healthcare information quality and reduce costs. We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer with a strong background in Microsoft SQL Server to come join our small, cutting-edge development team in Burlington, Vermont. Responsibilities Include:

• Work in a team-based environment to build new solutions for our customers—your area of expertise will focus on development of high performance, maintainable database-side software for these solutions.
• We’re counting on you to play a big role in helping us advance our reporting solutions for our customers—both the on-premise and cloud-based dimensions of those solutions.
• We are evolving our product architecture to scale horizontally. You’ll help us architect, design, implement, and test the database changes required to make this solution robust/scalable.
• Participate in architecture and/or functional design and testing activities, from requirements analysis and prototype development through test automation.
• Escalation point for field issues—investigate, design and estimate solutions, and implement them in compliance with our software life cycle processes. This may include deep dives with DBAs at our customer sites into configuration, performance, and database integrity issues.
• To do all of this, you are going to learn a lot about our application architecture, and you’re going to become an expert in our database structure and fluent in the database structures of several other healthcare IT vendors in the US.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
• Very strong SQL skills: at least 5 years of experience in software development using Microsoft SQL Server, 10+ years preferred.
• In addition to SQL, you will probably find yourself reading/coding in C#. Some experience with C#, Java, python, or equivalent experience is desirable.
• Experience with data warehouse and/or machine learning is a plus.
• Must be able to pass a post-offer company drug screen and background investigation.
• Must currently be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to work effectively as a part of a small, agile software development team.
• Ideally, experience working in the US healthcare industry (e.g. physician billing, medical records, HIM, etc).
• Ideally, experience with a product with a similar architecture to ours—Web UI, .NET middle tier, ORM, SQL back end.
