Insights from the RCxRules 2022 National User Conference: Staffing Shortages and Remote Work are Still Top of Mind

RCxRules hosted our 2022 National User Conference in August—our first in-person conference since 2019! Attendees traveled from across the country to our home base in Vermont. It was invigorating to have so many of our customers and employees under one roof. We had a full schedule of exciting sessions and plenty of opportunities to chat face-to-face. As always, our customers were engaged and insightful, and it was so great to discuss their ideas, questions, and current challenges. Throughout the conference, there were a few main themes and topics that seem to be on everyone’s mind:

Staffing Shortages

As we expected due to current industry trends, a significant majority of our customers are struggling with staffing shortages. We surveyed our attendees and found that 65% feel that the current job market is the most challenging in recent memory.

Staffing shortages and hiring challenges are leading our customer base to increasingly rely on AI. It was helpful for the RCxRules team members to hear real-world examples of our customers using our software to improve efficiency on short-staffed teams and decrease provider burden for their busy physicians.

The Challenges and Benefits of Remote Work

Our customers also provided some thoughtful insight into how their organizations are faring with the new normal of remote work. Virtually all our customers reported that their organizations were still incorporating remote work—either with a fully remote staff or a hybrid remote/in-office setup.

Quite a few of our customers were leveraging this new remote style to expand their hiring range. Rather than just looking locally, many are posting jobs nationwide and conducting interviews virtually. This brings its own set of challenges, and a lot of people mentioned they struggle with onboarding remote team members.

Employee productivity was another concern, and our customers shared how they leverage the RCxRules reporting capabilities to track overall team productivity as well as individual coder performance. The ability to quickly and easily view reporting stats and drill down to necessary details is becoming increasingly important as teams work from different locations.
